Then something happens, which is not possible at all, the pins push the doors outwards so that they are no longer upright, but always remain open by an inch. If you install the pins further inwards, the dampening effect is completely absent. Only pushing out remains, but you don't want that. Conclusion: Apart from various holes in my closet and unnecessary work, you can leave these dampers with the manufacturer and prefer to fall back on the tried and tested products of a Swedish furniture chain, which always have similar components in stock on the small parts grab table.
