DMG (dimethylglycine) is a dimethylated derivative of the simple amino acid glycine.
Functional action:
Glycine reduces the level of homocysteine in the blood. Glycine improves oxygen utilization and can act as an antioxidant, stimulating lymphocyte proliferation and interferon production.
Dimethylglycine is an amino acid, a building block for protein. It is found in the body in very small quantities. Dimethylglycine is used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children (ADHD), epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, allergies, respiratory tract diseases, pain and swelling (with inflammation), cancer, alcoholism, and drug addiction.
It is also used to improve speech and behavior in autism, nervous system function, liver function, and to improve the body's use of oxygen during exercise. Some people use it to reduce stress and the effects of aging, and to boost the immune system's defenses against infection.
Dimethylglycine is also used to lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides, lower homocysteine levels, and can help restore blood pressure and blood sugar levels to normal.
