What do you get when you combine the attributes of legendary Maxxis treads like the Minion DHR II, High Roller, and Shorty? Enter the Assegai, a new signature tire from the mind of Greg Minnaar. Its tall knobs pierce through dust and loam to find traction, but also provide support and confidence on wet roots and rocks.
Specifications: World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar's signature tire. Optimized for loose/loose/hard, medium, and wet conditions. Cornering Control: 1, 2, 3, 4. Rolling Efficiency: 1, 2, 3, 4. Compound: Dual Compound Technology. Breaker: EXO Puncture Protection. Max PSI: 50. Bead Type: Folding. Tubeless Tire TPI: 60. Weight: 1005g.
Dual Compound.
Some tires use two compounds in the tread to lower rolling resistance and improve cornering grip.
EXO.
We use an extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material in the sidewalls of some of our mountain tires. The tightly woven fabric is lightweight and flexible, without affecting tire performance. Choose EXO Protection for extremely rocky, treacherous trails where sidewall cuts and abrasions are more likely.
Tubeless Ready.
Tubeless tires offer many benefits to riders: the ability to run lower tire pressures, improved traction, lower rolling resistance compared to tube-type tires, and a reduced chance of flats due to the lack of a tube. Liquid sealant should only be used with the following types of tires: tubeless road, tubular, and tubeless ready. Using liquid sealant with other Maxxis tires will void the warranty.
Wide Trail.
Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tire's tread layout and profile for today's modern, wide rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrow rims, creating an overly square tire profile that can reduce optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width, but have been proven to work with inner rim widths ranging from 30mm to 35mm, depending on rider preference.
MAXXIS ASSEGAI: Greg Minnaar's signature tire, the Maxxis Assegai, provides tenacious, predictable grip across the entire profile, regardless of lean angle.
Dual Compound: Two different rubber compounds are used within the tread to provide a balance of rolling resistance and grip.
EXO: Added cut and abrasion resistance to the sidewalls of many of our gravel and MTB tires. Suitable for a wide range of riding applications, from gravel to XC to light trail duty.
[E25] E25-rated tires are suitable for lightweight, assisted electric bikes up to 16.1 MPH.
Wide Trail: The tire's tread layout and profile are optimized to fit today's modern, wide rims. Maxxis offers a WT tire for everything from XC to gravity applications. A 30mm internal width rim is ideal for most applications, but WT tires can be used on rims with internal widths from 19mm to 35mm.
